MTV EMA season is underway! MTV (DStv channel 130) has revealed the first four nominees for the Best African Act. Davido (Nigeria), Goldfish (South Africa), Diamond (Tanzania) and Toofan (Togo) will be battling it out for supremacy in this hotly contested category.
In addition, for the first time ever, MTV is putting an EMA nomination in the hands of the fans via social media, so music lovers everywhere will have the power to help select the fifth nominee for Best African Act. SSS Parades Priest, 20 Others Over Alleged Child Theft In A/Ibom

Officials of the Department of State Security (DSS) in Akwa Ibom State yesterday paraded a Catholic priest and 20 others for their alleged involvement in child theft.
The priest, Rev Okono Joseph of St Peter’s Parish of Owerri Catholic Diocese in Imo State, was arrested for buying two boys, age three and four years, at N900,000.
State Deputy Director, Fubara Duke, who spoke at the DSS headquarters in Uyo, said the cleric bought the children self-styled man of God bought the children from an agent sponsored by Uche Joel Canice Onyekedru from Ogiri in Imo State.

2014 Mothers Day: Nigerian Women Pray For Peace, Unity

Women and mothers in the #Cathedral Church of the Advent in Abuja, on Sunday, prayed for peace, protection and unity of the country as preparations for the 2015 elections gathered momentum.
The prayer session was organised by the Cathedral in Life Camp, Gwarimpa, Abuja, as part of activities to mark the 2014 Mothering Sunday celebration which had “Let Your Light Shine” as its theme.
Mrs Ngozi Ikeliani, the Chairperson of the Cathedral told reporters that the celebration signified a day that the Church recognised the importance of women in the worship of God.
She said “we asked God for peace, protection and defence of all Nigerians against all assaults of enemies.
“We prayed to God to give us leaders who would be ready to serve and not to exploit the citizens during the forthcoming 2015 elections”.

Armed men, believed to be Nigerian soldiers on Friday evening raided one of the residences of Major Hamza Al-Mustapha (rtd), former Chief Security Officer to the late Head of State, General #Sani Abacha, located at Durbin Katsina, Kano metropolis, leaving in its wake sordid tales of molestation.
The heavily armed men, who reportedly came in trucks and tanks, cordoned streets leading to the house and seized the occupants who were mostly women and children in an operation that lasted 60 minutes.

See How Fraudsters Can Rob An ATM Machine Through Simple Text Messages

It been revealed that a particular brand of #ATM machines can be hacked and robbed with ease without even touching or being close to the device.
The details ain't as simple as it sounds but the ATM are actually Windows PCs need to be running on XP then it has to be infected with a trojan virus called Ploutus.
The fraudsters then have to access the computer (ATM) innards and install their malware and hook it up to a mobile phone via a USB port and then they have a full control of the machine
Then all they are now required to do is to send a message to the planted ATM phone, it then translates the text into a network packet and sends it to the ATM. Ploutus then transforms the packets into command-line instructions.
Symantec’s Daniel Regalado said: “It may seem incredible, but this technique is being used in a number of places across the world at this time,”

#Benue killing: 32 displaced persons dead

After escaping the bullets of suspected Fulani mercenaries, who attacked some #communities in parts of Benue State, no fewer than 32 Internally Displaced Persons, (IDPs) have been reported dead in the last one week in their makeshift camps.

The camps are scattered around North Bank area, a suburb of #Makurdi. Saturday Tribune  gathered that among the dead were children and the elderly, who in the last few weeks, were exposed to harsh weather due to the escalating crisis.
It was further gathered that most of the camps have been badly hit by diseases like measles,  diarrhea and  malaria, while majority of the children are also malnourished.

The Nigeria Police on Tuesday raised an alarm over the increasing reported cases of rape and warned ladies in Nigeria against falling prey to the gimmicks of their male companions. The police said they had uncovered the wicked tactics prospective rapists use to snare their victims, mostly beautiful ladies.
Deputy Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Abayomi Shogunle, wrote on Twitter that young ladies should be wary of the emergency calls they receive from their male friends who may claim illnesses.
“Rape is a fast growing global crime. It is never the victim’s fault, yet many victims of rape carry the scar and guilt forever,” the police said.

ANIMOSITY:MAN THROWS HIS 14YEAR OLD DAUGHTER FROM A 3 STORY APARTMENT AFTER CATCHING HER WITH A BOY!!

An angry father, Deji Kamoru, is in trouble for throwing his 14-year old daughter, Aishat, from their three-storey building home after he caught her with her boyfriend in his bedroom.
In annoyance, he allegedly tied Aishat’s hands, tortured her and threw her from the third floor of their house at Oroyinyin Street, Lagos Island, Lagos State, southwest Nigeria.
Source learnt that when Aishat landed on the ground, she hit her head against a metal object and became unconscious.
The teenager was rushed to Lagos Island General Hospital in Lagos where she is under intensive care.
Though Aishat is still alive, it was gathered that she cannot talk or recognise any body at the hospital.

Teen Arrested For Spending $25,000 Accidentally Deposited into His Account

Authorities say a Georgia teen is under arrest and accused of spending about $25,000 that a bank accidentally deposited into his account.
The Madison County Sheriff’s Department says 18-year-old Steven Fields of Hull in northeastern, Ga., turned himself in Friday.
He faces a charge of theft by taking. A home phone number for Fields could not be located, and it was not immediately clear whether he had an attorney.

Jonathan In Bauchi, Restates Commitment To Tackling Security Challenges

President Goodluck Jonathan said in Bauchi on Saturday that the Federal Government would not relent in its effort at addressing the problem of insecurity in some parts of the country.
Speaking when he visited the Emir of Bauchi, Alhaji Rilwanu Adamu, the President said that the problem must be tackled for the country to progress.
He explained that one of the measures was the introduction of various skills acquisition programmes to tackle the problem of youth restiveness and create opportunities for employment.
The President commended the emir for working towards ensuring peace in the state, adding that in spite of Bauchi being in the North East, it had remained relatively peaceful.
Jonathan also expressed satisfaction with the performance of the National Chairman of the PDP, Dr Ahmed Mu’azu, an indigene of the state.

Illegal Bunkering: 2 Britons, 12 Nigerians Arrested By The JTF

Two Britons and 12 Nigerian technicians allegedly involved in illegal bunkering along the Chanomi Creek in the western delta have been arrested by operatives of the Joint Task Force in the Niger Delta code named Operation Pulo Shield.
The suspects were said to have offered the operatives of the JTF the sum of $66,500, to create safe passage for them to siphon crude oil into their barges from a Shell Petroleum Development Company pipeline along the Chanomi creek in Delta State, an offer the operatives rejected.

N416m Scam: Fayose Refused Governorship Candidate

A Federal High Court in Ado-Ekiti, capital of Ekiti State, on Thursday refused the request by the governorship candidate Ayodele Fayose to delay his trial to enable him concentrate on his electoral campaign.

Last Saturday, Fayose emerged the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the governorship election scheduled for June 21.
The former Ekiti governor is standing trial for allegedly misappropriating state funds to the tune of N416m during his tenure between 2003 and 2006.
At the resumed hearing on the suit, Fayose’s counsel, Raji Ahmed (SAN) asked the court to adjourn the matter till the first week in July. He said that the accused must be presumed innocent until proven guilty.
